The Belluno Lantern | Glass & Brass Pendant | CLND038

The Belluno Lantern is a small glass-and-brass pendant with the proportions of an architectural lantern: a glass shade held in flowing brass spirals, hung on a brass chain. It measures 21.6 cm (8.5″) across and 31.8 cm (12.5″) high, with a 183 cm (72″) chain. It suits an entrance hall, a corridor or a bedside, or a row above a kitchen island or hospitality counter.

The glass

The glass sits at the centre of the lantern and frames the light, while the brass structure around it gives the piece its tailored shape. The warm metal and the glass read as one small, finished object, whether the lamp is on or off.

Why warm light matters

Glass takes on the colour of the lamp inside it. At 2700K it glows warm against the brass; cooler light makes the glass look cold and the metal flat. On this piece, warm white is part of the design.

Sizing and placement

At 21.6 cm (8.5″) wide and 31.8 cm (12.5″) tall, one Belluno suits an entrance, a corridor or a bedside. Over a kitchen island, hang two or three spaced about 60 to 75 cm (24 to 30″) apart, with the base of each lantern 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35″) above the counter.

Suspension

The lantern comes with a 183 cm (72″) chain, which is shortened at installation to suit the ceiling or left long to drop into a stairwell. The chain can also be made longer or shorter to order, and a sloped ceiling adapter is available.

The light

It is a small decorative light that marks a doorway, a corridor or a bedside with a warm, local glow. Over a kitchen island, pair it with task lighting.

Lamping and installation

E14 lamp holder. Warm white LED at 2700K. The lantern weighs about 2 to 3 kg (4.4 to 6.6 lb). It is hardwired; have a qualified electrician install it.

Care

Switch off and let the lamp cool. Dust with a soft dry cloth. For a deeper clean, wipe the glass with a damp microfibre cloth and a little mild glass cleaner applied to the cloth, never sprayed onto the fixture. Wipe the brass with a soft dry cloth, with no polish or abrasive products.

Made to order

Every lantern is made to order. Chain length, metal finish and canopy can be adapted before production, and dimming is available on request.

The Belluno is also made in clear glass.
