Cognac Glass Pendant | Brass | CLCGP

The Cognac Glass Pendant is a tinted glass shade in deep cognac on a polished solid brass frame. It comes in five shapes: A, 20 cm (7.9″) wide and 37 cm (14.6″) high; B, 28 cm (11″) wide and 33 cm (13″) high; C, 18 cm (7.1″) wide and 49 cm (19.3″) high; D, 25 cm (9.8″) wide and 39 cm (15.4″) high; and E, 27 cm (10.6″) wide and 44 cm (17.3″) high. It hangs alone over a console or bar, or in a group over a dining table or kitchen island.

The glass

The shade is tinted a deep cognac, a brown-amber close to aged spirits. It sits well beside walnut, leather, dark green and brass. Mixing the five shapes in one group gives a varied, collected line over a table or island.

The brass

The frame and fittings are solid brass with a polished finish. They add weight and a warm gold edge to the tinted glass.

Why warm light matters

Coloured glass takes on the temperature of the lamp inside it. At 2700K the cognac glows a warm amber; cooler light makes it look muddy and brown. On this piece, warm white is part of the design.

Sizing and placement

One shade suits a console, a bar or a small bedside. Over a kitchen island, hang two to four in a row, spaced about 60 to 80 cm (24 to 31″) apart. Over a dining table, hang three to five in a group of mixed shapes. Hang the bottom of each shade 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35″) above the surface.

Suspension

Each shade hangs on a cord. The drop adjusts on site and can be made longer or shorter to order.

The light

The tinted glass gives off a low amber glow, and more light falls down through the open base onto the surface below. It is a warm, evening light. Over a kitchen island, keep task lighting alongside it.

Lamping and installation

One E27 lamp per shade. Warm white LED at 2700K. Bulbs are not included. Each pendant weighs about 1.5 to 2.5 kg (3.3 to 5.5 lb) depending on shape. It is for indoor use and is hardwired by your electrician.

Care

Switch off and let the lamp cool. Wipe the glass with a damp microfiber cloth and a little mild glass cleaner applied to the cloth, never sprayed onto the fixture. Dust the brass with a soft dry cloth; do not use metal polish.

Made to order

Every piece is made to order. The drop can be set to your ceiling height, and dimming is available on request.
