The Silk Pendant is a soft silk shade stretched over a slim iron frame. It comes in four widths: 40 cm (15.7″), 50 cm (19.7″), 60 cm (23.6″) and 70 cm (27.5″). It hangs over a dining table, beside a bed, or in a living room, spa, lounge or hotel hall.

The shade

The shade is silk, which has a fine, faintly lustrous surface and lets light through evenly. The iron frame is kept slim so the silk reads as a single soft form, with no hard lines across it. It suits a calm, Japandi room.

Why warm light matters

A silk shade takes on the colour of the lamp inside it. At 2700K the silk glows a soft, creamy white, like paper lit from behind; cooler light makes it look flat and blue. On this piece, warm white is part of the design.

Sizing and placement

The 40 cm (15.7″) suits a bedside, a reading corner or a small hallway. The 50 cm (19.7″) suits a small round table of about 90 to 110 cm (35 to 43″) or a pair over a kitchen island. The 60 cm (23.6″) suits a table of about 110 to 150 cm (43 to 59″). The 70 cm (27.5″) suits a table of about 150 cm (59″) and above, or the middle of a living room. Over a table, hang the bottom 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35″) above the surface.

Suspension

The shade hangs on a cord that adjusts on site. The cord can be made longer or shorter to order.

The light

Light passes through the silk as a soft, even glow with no bright spot, and falls down onto the table below. It is an ambient light for a quiet room. Over a kitchen island or desk, keep task lighting alongside it.

Lamping and installation

One E27 lamp. Warm white LED at 2700K. Bulbs are not included. The pendant weighs about 1.5 to 3 kg (3.3 to 6.6 lb) depending on size. It is hardwired by your electrician.

Care

Switch off and let the lamp cool. Dust the silk with a soft brush or a vacuum on low with a brush attachment. Keep water and cleaners off the shade.

Made to order

Every piece is made to order. The cord length can be set to your ceiling height, and dimming is available on request.
