Murano-Style Glass Chandelier | CLPD520

The Murano-Style Glass Chandelier is a compact chandelier of ruffled, flower-shaped glass forms, each one shaped by hand and gathered on a metal frame. It measures 45 cm (17.7″) across and 30 cm (11.8″) high, and hangs on a 50 cm (19.7″) chain. It suits a small dining room, a lounge, an entrance hall or a landing.

The glass

Each bloom is formed by hand in the Murano style, with ruffled edges that fold and overlap. Because every flower is shaped individually, its curve, edge and texture vary from the next, and no two chandeliers are quite the same. The texture of the glass breaks the light into highlights and soft shadow across the flowers and onto the ceiling.

Why warm light matters

Glass takes on the colour of the lamps behind it. At 2700K the blooms glow soft and warm, and the ruffled edges catch a golden highlight; cooler light makes the glass look cold and flat. On this piece, warm white is part of the design.

Sizing and placement

At 45 cm (17.7″) across, it suits a round table of about 75 to 100 cm (30 to 39″), a breakfast nook, an entrance hall or a bedroom of around 3 × 3.5 m (10 × 11.5 ft). Over a table, hang the bottom 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35″) above the surface. At 30 cm (11.8″) high it stays compact, so it sits comfortably under standard ceilings.

Suspension

With the standard 50 cm (19.7″) chain, the chandelier hangs about 80 cm (31.5″) from the ceiling. Over a table that suits ceilings of roughly 2.3 to 2.45 m (7.5 to 8 ft). The chain is adjusted at installation, and for higher ceilings and stairwells it is made longer or shorter to order.

The light

Four lamps sit among the blooms, so the light passes through the glass and reflects between the flowers. It gives a soft, decorative ambient light rather than a direct downlight. Over a kitchen island or a desk, keep task lighting alongside it.

Lamping and installation

Four E14 lamps. Warm white LED at 2700K. Bulbs are not included. The chandelier weighs about 6 to 9 kg (13 to 20 lb). It is hardwired; have your electrician fix it to a joist or reinforced blocking rather than a standard ceiling box.

Care

Switch off and let the lamps cool. Dust with a soft dry cloth or a feather duster, supporting each bloom with your other hand. For a deeper clean, wipe the glass with a damp microfibre cloth and a little mild glass cleaner applied to the cloth, never sprayed onto the fixture. Keep abrasive products off the metal frame.

Every chandelier is made to order. The chain length can be set to your ceiling height, and dimming is available on request.
