Modern Brass & Glass Pendant Light | CLVV2500

The Brass and Glass Pendant layers a clear, bell-shaped outer glass dome over an inner glass cylinder, held in a slender metal frame and finished with a small glass sphere. It comes in two sizes: Small, 18 cm (7.1″) wide and 40 cm (15.7″) high, and Large, 25 cm (9.8″) wide and 54 cm (21.3″) high, in brass or black. It hangs on rods of up to 100 cm (39.4″). It suits an entrance hall, a bedroom or a hallway, or a row over a kitchen island or dining counter.

The glass

There are two layers of clear glass. The outer dome is shaped like a bell; inside it, a glass cylinder surrounds the bulb and softens it. A small glass sphere completes the vertical line. The glass is formed by hand, so small differences between pieces are part of the making.

The frame

The gold version has a solid brass frame and rod. The black version is stainless steel. The frame is slender so that the glass stays the focus.

Why warm light matters

Clear glass shows the colour of the light as it is. At 2700K the inner cylinder glows warm and the outer dome catches a soft gold edge. Cooler light looks hard and blue through two layers of clear glass. On this piece, warm white is part of the design.

Sizing and placement

The Small, at 18 cm (7.1″), suits a bedside, a hallway or a run of three to five over a kitchen island or counter. The Large, at 25 cm (9.8″), suits an entrance hall, or a run of two or three over a dining table. Over a table or island, hang the bottom 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35″) above the surface.

Suspension

The pendant hangs on rods of up to 100 cm (39.4″), supplied in 30, 20 and 50 cm (11.8, 7.9 and 19.7″) sections, so the height can be set when it is installed. Longer or shorter rods are made to order.

The light

The inner glass cylinder diffuses the bulb, so the pendant gives a soft, even light without glare, while the clear outer dome keeps it bright. It works as ambient and accent light. Over a kitchen worktop, keep task lighting alongside it.

Lamping and installation

E26 or E27 lamp, depending on the destination country; an LED or Edison-style bulb suits it. Warm white at 2700K. The bulb is not included. The Small weighs about 3 kg (6.6 lb) and the Large about 4.5 kg (9.9 lb). The fixture is hardwired; installation by an electrician is recommended.

Care

Switch off and let the lamp cool. Wipe the glass with a damp microfiber cloth and a little mild glass cleaner applied to the cloth, never sprayed onto the fixture. Clean the metal with a soft dry cloth only; do not use metal polish.

Every pendant is made to order. The rod length can be set to your ceiling, and dimming is available on request.
