Handwoven Wicker Pendant | CL8785CV

The Handwoven Wicker Pendant is a round shade of natural linen and wicker, woven by hand. It comes in three diameters: 50 cm (19.7″), 60 cm (23.6″) and 80 cm (31.5″). It hangs over a dining table, in a study or bedroom, or in a hotel or restaurant.

The weave

The shade is woven by hand from wicker and linen. The weave gives the surface an open, soft texture, and because each shade is made by hand, the pattern and the tension vary a little from one to the next. No two are identical. The fittings are stainless steel.

Why warm light matters

Natural fibers take on the colour of the light behind them. At 2700K the wicker glows honey and straw, and the weave throws a warm, textured light. Cooler light makes the same shade look gray and dry. On this piece, warm white is part of the design.

Sizing and placement

The 50 cm (19.7″) shade suits a table for four, about 90 to 120 cm (35 to 47″), a bedroom or a study. The 60 cm (23.6″) shade suits a table of about 120 to 160 cm (47 to 63″). The 80 cm (31.5″) shade suits a large table, a living room or a high-ceilinged room, and gives a restaurant or hotel space a strong center. Over a table, hang the bottom 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35″) above the surface.

Suspension

The pendant hangs on a cord. The cord length is made longer or shorter to order, including for high ceilings.

The light

The light filters through the weave, so the pendant gives a soft, diffused ambient light with a gentle pattern on the ceiling and walls. It is not a task light. Over a desk or kitchen worktop, keep task lighting alongside it.

Lamping and installation

E26 or E27 lamp, depending on the destination country. Warm white LED at 2700K. The bulb is not included. The pendant weighs about 2 to 3.5 kg (4.4 to 7.7 lb) depending on size.

Care

Switch off and let the lamp cool. Dust with a soft dry brush or the brush head of a vacuum on low. Keep the shade dry: water can stain linen and loosen the weave.

Made to order

Every shade is woven to order. The cord length can be set to your ceiling, and dimming is available on request.
