The Antique Gold Cage Pendant is an open cage of curved iron bands around a single bulb, finished in a distressed antique gold. It comes in two sizes: Small, 25 cm (9.8″) wide, and Large, 43 cm (16.9″) wide, both 38 cm (15″) high. It hangs from a 50 cm (19.7″) chain. It suits a dining table, a kitchen or an entrance hall, on its own or grouped.

The frame

The cage is iron, formed into gently curved bands. The antique gold finish is distressed, so the piece looks worn in rather than new.

Sizing and placement

The Small, at 25 cm (9.8″), suits a run of two or three over a kitchen island, a bedside or a narrow hall. The Large, at 43 cm (16.9″), suits a table for four, about 90 to 120 cm (35 to 47″), or an entrance hall. Over a table or island, hang the bottom 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35″) above the surface.

Suspension

The pendant hangs from a 50 cm (19.7″) chain. The chain is made longer or shorter to order to suit your ceiling.

The light

The bulb sits open inside the cage, so the light is bright and clear, and the bands throw their shadow pattern onto the ceiling and walls. A warm filament bulb suits it best. Over a kitchen worktop, keep task lighting alongside it.

Lamping and installation

One E26 or E27 lamp, depending on the destination country; a warm LED or Edison-style bulb suits it. Warm white at 2700K. The bulb is not included. The Small weighs about 2.5 kg (5.5 lb) and the Large about 4 kg (8.8 lb). For indoor use.

Care

Switch off and let the lamp cool. Dust with a soft dry cloth. Do not use metal polish or abrasive cleaners: they remove the antique finish.

Made to order

Every pendant is made to order. The chain length can be set to your ceiling, and dimming is available on request.
