The Cage Pendant is an open cage of curved iron bands in a distressed antique gold finish, framing a single bulb at its centre. It is 43 cm (16.9″) wide and 38 cm (15″) high and hangs on an adjustable chain. Hang one over a console or in an entrance hall, or a staggered run of two or three above a kitchen island.

The frame

The cage is formed from curved iron bands with a distressed antique gold finish. The open bands keep the bulb in view and throw a pattern of shadow lines across the ceiling and walls when the light is on.

Sizing and placement

At 43 cm (16.9″) wide, the pendant suits a console, a small round table of about 90 to 110 cm (35 to 43″), a hallway or an entrance. Over a kitchen island, use two or three in a line, spaced about 75 cm (30″) apart. Over a table or island, hang the bottom of the cage 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35″) above the surface.

Suspension

The pendant hangs on an adjustable chain from a ceiling canopy. The chain can be made longer or shorter to order for higher ceilings and stairwells.

The light

With a single open bulb, the light spreads in every direction and the cage casts its shadows around the room, so this is a decorative, ambient light. Over a kitchen island or a desk, keep task lighting alongside it.

Lamping and installation

One E27 lamp (E26 for North America). Warm white LED at 2700K; a clear filament bulb suits the open cage. Bulbs are not included. The pendant weighs about 3.5 kg (7.7 lb). The fixture is hardwired.

Care

Switch off and let the lamp cool first. Dust with a soft dry cloth. Keep water and abrasive cleaners off the distressed finish.

Every piece is made to order. Chain length can be set to your ceiling height, and dimming is available on request.
