The Brass Cone Pendant is a spun brass cone with a hand-patinated surface, hung on a chain for a clean, focused downlight. It measures 46 cm (18.1″) across and 43 cm (16.9″) high, and hangs on a 40 cm (15.7″) chain that can be made longer to order. It suits a dining table, a kitchen island, a reading corner or a hospitality counter.

The brass

The cone is spun brass, shaped into a smooth, even taper. The surface is then patinated by hand, so the tone and markings differ from one piece to the next and no two cones are the same. The patina softens the bright metal into a deeper, varied surface, and the cone shape keeps the beam clean and directed.

Sizing and placement

At 46 cm (18.1″) across, one cone suits a round or square table of about 75 to 100 cm (30 to 39″), a reading chair or a bar counter. Over a longer dining table or a kitchen island, hang two or three in a row, with about 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35″) between centres. Hang the rim 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35″) above the surface.

Suspension

The cone hangs on a 40 cm (15.7″) chain, for an overall drop of about 83 cm (33″) from the ceiling. Over a dining table that suits ceilings of roughly 2.4 to 2.5 m (8 to 8.2 ft). The chain is adjusted at installation, and for higher ceilings and double-height rooms it is made longer or shorter to order.

The light

The lamp sits up inside the cone, so the light falls straight down in a directed beam and the brass keeps the lamp out of sight at eye level. It lights the table or counter below and leaves the rest of the room soft. In a larger room, pair it with ambient light elsewhere.

Lamping and installation

One E27 lamp. Warm white LED at 2700K. The bulb is not included. The pendant weighs about 3 to 4.5 kg (6.6 to 9.9 lb). It is hardwired and wired for your region's voltage; have a qualified electrician install it. For indoor use.

Care

Switch off and let the lamp cool. Dust with a soft dry cloth. Do not use metal polish, cleaners or water: they strip the patina and mark the brass.

Made to order

Every cone is made and patinated to order. The chain length can be set to your ceiling height, and dimming is available on request.
