Beschreibung

The Plaster Ceiling Pendant is a wide bowl of real plaster, hand-troweled so the surface shifts slightly across the piece. It measures 100 cm (39.4″) long and 62 cm (24.4″) wide, and gives a soft, ambient light. It suits an entrance hall, a dining room or a quiet, pared-back living room.

The plaster

The bowl is cast in plaster and finished by hand with a trowel, which leaves a matte, gently uneven surface. The trowel marks are different on every piece. The plaster reads as much as a sculpture as a lamp, and it sits well with limewash, oak, linen and stone.

Why warm light matters

Plaster takes on the colour of the light that falls on it. At 2700K the bowl looks a warm chalk white; under cooler light it turns grey and flat. On this piece, warm white is part of the design.

Sizing and placement

At 100 cm (39.4″) long, the pendant suits a dining table of about 160 to 200 cm (63 to 79″), or an entrance hall or living room of around 4 × 4.5 m (13 × 15 ft). Over a table, hang the bottom 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35″) above the surface, with the long side of the bowl following the length of the table.

Suspension

The drop is made longer or shorter to order and set to your ceiling height.

The light

The plaster hides the lamp from view and softens what comes out of it, so the pendant gives a calm, ambient light rather than a sharp downlight. Over a table used for reading or work, add task lighting nearby.

Lamping and installation

E27 lamp base. Warm white LED at 2700K. Bulbs are not included. The pendant weighs about 10 to 14 kg (22 to 31 lb). It is hardwired; have your electrician fix it to a joist or reinforced blocking.

Care

Switch off and let the lamp cool. Dust with a soft dry brush or a dry cloth. Keep water and cleaning products off the plaster: it is porous and marks easily.

Made to order

Every pendant is made to order and finished by hand. The drop is set to your ceiling, and dimming is available on request.
