The Pink Glass Globe Chandelier is a sputnik-style cluster of hand-blown glass spheres in blush and rose, on a brass frame finished in gold. It is 80 cm (31.5″) wide and 90 cm (35.4″) high, and it hangs on a rod made to your length. It suits a bedroom, a living room, a dining room or a small hotel.

The glass

Each globe is blown by hand, and the colour is in the glass itself. Some globes are milky, some more translucent, so the cluster has depth and no two globes read the same. Because the glass is hand-blown, slight variations in shape and tone are part of every piece.

The frame

The globes sit on a brass frame finished in gold, which hangs from a rod and a ceiling canopy in the same finish. Other metal finishes can be chosen when you order.

Why warm light matters

Pink glass is sensitive to the colour of the light behind it. At 2700K the globes glow a soft rose, warm and flattering to skin and to the room. Under cooler light the same pink turns cold and chalky. On this piece, warm white is part of the design.

Sizing and placement

At 80 cm (31.5″) wide, it suits a round or square table of about 140 to 180 cm (55 to 71″), a living room of around 4 × 5 m (13 × 16 ft), or the centre of a bedroom. Over a table, hang the bottom 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35″) above the surface. It is 90 cm (35.4″) tall, so it looks best with some height above it.

Suspension

The rod is made longer or shorter to order, so the chandelier sits at the right height for your ceiling. Chain suspension and a sloped-ceiling adapter are also available.

The light

The light passes through the globes in every direction, so it gives an even, ambient glow across the room rather than a pool of light on the table. With eighteen lamps it can serve as the main light in a room. Over a desk or kitchen counter, keep task lighting alongside it.

Lamping and installation

Eighteen E12 lamps. Warm white LED at 2700K gives around 3,000 to 4,200 lumens across the fixture. It weighs about 14 kg (31 lb). The fixture is hardwired; have your electrician fix it to a joist or reinforced blocking.

Care

Switch off and let the lamps cool. Dust the globes with a soft dry cloth or a feather duster. For a deeper clean, wipe the glass with a damp microfibre cloth and a little mild glass cleaner applied to the cloth, never sprayed onto the fixture. Keep abrasive products off the gold finish.
