The 3-Tier Round Alabaster Chandelier is three concentric rings of Spanish alabaster, descending in size and staggered in height, hung on fine stainless-steel cables from a canopy in solid brass or black stainless steel. It comes in three sizes: Small, with rings of 100, 60 and 30 cm (39.4, 23.6 and 11.8″); Medium, 120, 80 and 40 cm (47.2, 31.5 and 15.7″); and Large, 150, 100 and 50 cm (59, 39.4 and 19.7″). Each ring is 7 cm (2.8″) high, and the full drop is 190 cm (74.8″), adjusted on site. It is made for large dining rooms, double-height living rooms, grand entrance halls and hotel-scale spaces.

The alabaster

Each ring is cut by hand from a single block of Spanish alabaster, a soft, translucent stone with natural clouding and veining. An LED set inside each ring lights the stone from within, so the three rings become the light source and the veining shows around every circle. The rings vary as natural stone does, and you can choose more, less or random veining when you order.

The frame

The canopy is solid brass on the Gold version and stainless steel finished in black on the Black version. The rings hang on fine stainless-steel cables that almost disappear against the ceiling, so the three circles seem to float one below the other.

Why warm light matters

Alabaster takes on the colour of the light inside it. At 2700K it glows honey and cream, and the veining shows as soft amber and gray drifts through the stone. Cooler light turns it gray-white and flat, and the veining loses its depth. On this piece, warm white is part of the design.

Sizing and placement

The Small, with a 100 cm (39.4″) top ring, suits a table of about 180 to 240 cm (71 to 94″) or a large living room. The Medium, 120 cm (47.2″) across, suits a table of 240 cm (94″) and above or a double-height living room. The Large, 150 cm (59″) across, is for grand entrance halls, stairwells and large open rooms. Over a table, hang the lowest ring 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35″) above the surface.

Suspension

At the full 190 cm (74.8″) drop, the lowest ring over a dining table suits ceilings of about 3.4 to 3.6 m (11 to 12 ft). The cables are shortened on site for lower ceilings, and longer cables are made to order for double-height rooms and stairwells.

The light

The light comes from inside the stone and spreads outward and down through all three rings, so the chandelier gives a soft, layered ambient light with no visible lamps. Over a kitchen island or a desk, keep task lighting alongside it.

Lamping and installation

Integrated LED at 2700K warm white, about 75 W on the Small, 120 W on the Medium and 180 W on the Large; the LED strips can be replaced. The Small weighs about 16 kg (35 lb), the Medium about 25 kg (55 lb) and the Large about 40 kg (88 lb). The fixture is hardwired; have your electrician fix it to a joist or reinforced blocking rather than a standard ceiling box.

Care

Switch off and let the fixture cool first. Dust the alabaster with a soft dry cloth or a feather duster. Alabaster is a soft, porous stone, so use a dry cloth only: no water, no sprays and no cleaners. Wipe the metal with a soft dry cloth and keep polish off it.

Every piece is made to order. Cable length is set to your ceiling height, and dimming is available on request.
