The Verona Linear | Solid Copper & Fluted Biscuit Ceramic | CLVRN
Beschreibung
The Verona Linear is a linear chandelier of fluted, unglazed biscuit ceramic lanterns on a frame of solid copper bar. It measures 94 cm (37″) long and 23 cm (9″) deep, and hangs from a rigid copper stem of 50 cm (19.7″) as standard. It is made to hang over a dining table.
The ceramic
The lanterns are hand-cast biscuit ceramic, left unglazed so the raw, matte texture of the fired clay shows. The vertical fluting is crisp and deep, the result of slow molding by hand. When lit, the light comes through the ceramic walls and the fluting casts a rhythmic pattern of light and shadow.
The copper
The frame is solid, heavy-gauge copper bar, and the stem is rigid copper. The copper is hand-finished to a rubbed patina and then sealed, which keeps the natural depth of the metal. You feel the weight of the solid bar the moment you lift it.
Why warm light matters
Unglazed ceramic takes on the colour of the light behind it. At 2700K the lanterns glow a warm biscuit tone that sits well with the copper; cooler light makes the clay look grey and flat. On this piece, warm white is part of the design.
Sizing and placement
At 94 cm (37″) long, the Verona suits a rectangular or oval dining table of about 150 to 190 cm (59 to 75″), or a kitchen table. Hang the bottom of the lanterns 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35″) above the surface, and center it on the length of the table.
Suspension
The Verona hangs from a rigid copper stem, 50 cm (19.7″) as standard. The stem is made longer or shorter to order to suit your ceiling height. Each fixture is balanced in the workshop so the horizontal line hangs level.
The light
The light glows through the ceramic walls, so the Verona gives a warm, textured light at table height rather than a bright wash across the room. Over a kitchen island or for reading, keep task lighting alongside it.
Lamping and installation
Two E26 or E27 lamps. Warm white LED at 2700K. The fixture is hardwired; given the weight of the solid copper, have your electrician fix it to a joist or reinforced blocking.
Care
Switch off and let the lamps cool. Dust the ceramic with a soft dry brush or cloth; unglazed ceramic is porous, so keep water and cleaners away from it. Wipe the copper with a soft dry cloth, with no metal polish, which would strip the sealed patina.
Made to order
Every Verona is made to order. The stem length is set to your ceiling, and dimming is available on request.
