Ribbon Chandelier | Hand-Formed Iron | CL377852

The Ribbon Chandelier is a sculpture of hand-formed iron ribbons, folded and layered so the outline changes as you walk around it. It comes in two sizes, 60 cm (23.6″) and 80 cm (31.5″) across, in a gray or a gold finish, and hangs on an adjustable drop. It suits a dining table, a large kitchen island, a living room or a hotel lobby.

The iron

The ribbons are thick-gauge iron, bent by hand into long, fluid curves and then powder-coated. Because the metal is heavy, the curves hold their shape with real depth. The gray finish reads quiet and architectural; the gold finish is warmer and catches more light on the edges of each fold.

Sizing and placement

The 60 cm (23.6″) size suits a round or square table of about 100 to 140 cm (39 to 55″), or a smaller living room. The 80 cm (31.5″) size suits a table of about 140 to 180 cm (55 to 71″), a larger island or a lobby. Over a table, hang the bottom 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35″) above the surface. It is seen from every side, so it works well in an open room where people walk around it.

Suspension

The drop is adjustable and is set for low or high ceilings. It can be made longer or shorter to order for stairwells and double-height rooms.

The light

The lamps sit inside the folded ribbons. The light escapes through the gaps and throws soft shadows and warm patches across the ceiling and walls, so the room is lit indirectly. It is an ambient light. Over a kitchen island, add task lighting for work on the counter.

Lamping and installation

E27 lamps. Use warm white LED at 2700K. The fixture is hardwired; have your electrician fix it to a joist or reinforced blocking.

Care

Switch off and let the lamps cool. Dust the ribbons with a soft dry cloth or a soft brush. Keep abrasive cleaners and polish off the powder-coated finish.

Made to order

Every piece is made to order. The drop is set to your ceiling height, and dimming is available on request.
