Opal Globe Orbit Semi Flush | CLDFTS27

The Opal Globe Orbit is a ceiling light of four curved arms holding pairs of opaline glass discs, each backlit by a gold-finish reflector. It is sold two ways: as a semi-flush mount on a 20 cm (7.9″) rod, or as a pendant on a 50 cm (19.7″) cable. The body is 42 cm (16.5″) wide and 42 cm (16.5″) high, finished in gold or black. It suits a dining table, a living room, a bedroom or a hallway.

The glass

The discs are opaline glass, a milky white that hides the lamp and turns it into a soft, even glow. They are set in pairs, and the gold-finish reflectors behind them warm the light before it passes through the glass.

The frame

Four curved arms hold the discs in a balanced, symmetrical orbit, so the light looks the same from every side of the room. The frame comes in gold or in black.

Why warm light matters

Opaline glass takes on the colour of the lamps behind it. At 2700K, with the gold reflectors, it glows a warm cream; cooler light makes it look chalky and blue. On this piece, warm white is part of the design.

Sizing and placement

At 42 cm (16.5″) wide, it suits a room of about 3 × 3.5 m (10 × 11.5 ft), a round table of about 90 to 120 cm (35 to 47″), a bedroom or a hallway. Choose the semi-flush version where the ceiling is lower, around 2.4 to 2.7 m (8 to 9 ft), so the light stays close to the ceiling. Choose the pendant over a table or where the ceiling is higher; over a table, hang the bottom of the light 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35″) above the surface.

Mounting

The semi-flush version sits on a 20 cm (7.9″) rod. The pendant version hangs on a 50 cm (19.7″) cable, adjustable at installation. Both are made longer or shorter to order.

The light

The reflectors and opaline discs soften the lamps, so the light gives a warm, ambient glow rather than a direct downlight. Over a kitchen island or a desk, keep task lighting alongside it.

Lamping and installation

Warm white LED at 2700K. Bulbs are not included. It weighs about 6 to 9 kg (13 to 20 lb). The fixture is hardwired; have your electrician fix it to a joist or reinforced blocking.

Care

Switch off and let the lamps cool first. Dust with a soft dry cloth or a feather duster. For a deeper clean, wipe the glass with a damp microfibre cloth and a little mild glass cleaner applied to the cloth, never sprayed onto the fixture. Wipe the frame with a soft dry cloth only.

Every light is made to order. The rod or cable length is set to your ceiling height, and dimming is available on request.
