Linear Forged Brass & Crystal Chandelier | CLRE0079C

The Linear Forged Brass and Crystal Chandelier is a branching linear chandelier of hand-forged solid brass with a hand-hammered surface, each branch ending in a crystal diffuser. It comes in four lengths, all 58 cm (22.8″) high: 92 cm (36.2″) and 122 cm (48″) with six lights, and 152 cm (59.8″) and 182 cm (71.7″) with eight. It is made for a dining table, an office or a long living room.

The brass

Every branch is forged by hand from solid brass and hammered, so the surface is deeply textured and catches the light along its length. The brass is left unlacquered and develops a rich patina over the years. Antiqued brass, bronze and blackened iron finishes are available on request.

The crystal

Each lamp sits inside a solid crystal diffuser. The crystal softens the lamp, adds a gentle sparkle at the end of each branch, and sits well against the hammered brass. The diffusers are included.

Why warm light matters

Brass and crystal both take on the colour of the light. At 2700K the brass glows a deep gold and the crystal sparkles warm; cooler light turns the brass flat and greenish and the crystal cold. On this piece, warm white is part of the design.

Sizing and placement

The 92 cm (36.2″) suits a table of about 160 to 180 cm (63 to 71″). The 122 cm (48″) suits a table of about 180 to 220 cm (71 to 87″). The 152 cm (59.8″) suits a table of about 220 to 260 cm (87 to 102″). The 182 cm (71.7″) suits a table of 260 cm (102″) and above, or a long open-plan room. Over a table, hang the bottom of the chandelier 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35″) above the surface.

Suspension

The chandelier hangs from a stem or a chain, and the length is set to your ceiling height. It is made longer or shorter to order.

The light

The lights are spread along the branches, so the chandelier gives a warm, even light along the length of the table, with a soft sparkle from the crystal. Over a kitchen island or a desk, keep task lighting alongside it.

Lamping and installation

Six or eight G9 LED lamps depending on length, maximum 10 W each, warm white at 2700K. The fixture is heavy and hardwired; have your electrician fix it to a joist or reinforced blocking rather than a standard ceiling box.

Care

Switch off and let the lamps cool first. Dust the brass with a soft dry cloth. Do not use metal polish: the unlacquered brass is meant to age. Wipe the crystal with a soft dry cloth, or a damp microfibre cloth for a deeper clean.

Every chandelier is made to order. The stem or chain length is set to your ceiling height, other finishes are available, and dimming is available on request.
