Glass Globe Chandelier | Café Grey | CLPT85201

The Café Grey Glass Globe Chandelier is a cluster of hand-blown glass spheres in smoky gray, on a brass frame finished in gold. It is 80 cm (31.5″) wide and 100 cm (39.4″) high, and it hangs on a rod made to your length. It suits a dining room, a living room, a bedroom or a hotel lounge.

The glass

Each globe is blown by hand, and the gray is in the glass itself. Some globes are milky and some more translucent, layered so the cluster has depth. Because the glass is hand-blown, slight differences in tone and shape run through every piece.

The frame

The globes sit on a brass frame finished in gold. The warm metal against the cool smoky glass keeps the palette calm and modern.

Why warm light matters

Smoky glass takes on the colour of the light behind it. At 2700K the gray turns a soft café tone, warm at the centre of each globe. Under cooler light it goes flat and steely. On this piece, warm white is part of the design.

Sizing and placement

At 80 cm (31.5″) wide, it suits a round or square table of about 140 to 180 cm (55 to 71″), a living room of around 4 × 5 m (13 × 16 ft), or a large bedroom. Over a table, hang the bottom 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35″) above the surface. At 100 cm (39.4″) tall it has real volume, so it looks best under a ceiling with some height.

Suspension

It hangs on a rod that is made longer or shorter to order, so it sits at the right height for your ceiling. A sloped-ceiling adapter is also available.

The light

The light passes through the globes in every direction, giving an even, ambient glow. With eighteen lamps it is bright enough to light a room on its own. Over a desk or kitchen counter, keep task lighting alongside it.

Lamping and installation

Eighteen lamps. Warm white LED at 2700K gives around 3,000 to 4,200 lumens across the fixture. It weighs about 15 kg (33 lb). The fixture is hardwired; have your electrician fix it to a joist or reinforced blocking.

Care

Switch off and let the lamps cool. Dust the globes with a soft dry cloth or a feather duster. For a deeper clean, wipe the glass with a damp microfibre cloth and a little mild glass cleaner applied to the cloth, never sprayed onto the fixture. Keep abrasive products off the gold finish.

Every piece is made to order. The rod length is set to your ceiling height, and dimming is available on request.
