The Brass Candelabra Ring Chandelier is a metal ring hung on slim black cables, carrying tapered linen shades. It comes in four sizes: 72 cm (28.3″) wide with six shades, 92 cm (36.2″) with eight, 122 cm (48″) with ten and 153 cm (60.2″) with twelve, with the ring in solid brass (gold) or stainless steel (black). Each shade is about 11 cm (4.5″) across and 14 cm (5.5″) high. It hangs on 100 cm (39″) cables as standard and suits a dining table, a kitchen island, a living room or an entrance hall.

The shade

The shades are tapered, in a soft matte linen. They hide the lamps and diffuse the light, so the ring glows gently rather than sparkling. The texture of the fabric shows when the lamps are on.

The frame

The ring is solid brass in the gold version and stainless steel in the black version. It is a clean circle with nothing added, so the shades carry the look. The brass is warm; the black is graphic and modern.

Why warm light matters

Linen takes on the colour of the lamp inside it. At 2700K the shades glow a warm cream, like candlelight. Under cooler light they turn gray and flat. On this piece, warm white is part of the design.

Sizing and placement

The 72 cm (28.3″) size suits a round or square table of about 120 to 150 cm (47 to 59″). The 92 cm (36.2″) suits a table of about 150 to 190 cm (59 to 75″). The 122 cm (48″) suits a long table or a large living room. The 153 cm (60.2″) suits a large dining room, a lobby or a double-height hall. Over a table, hang the shades 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35″) above the surface.

Suspension

The ring hangs on 100 cm (39″) cables as standard. The cables are made longer or shorter to order, for standard, tall or vaulted ceilings.

The light

The linen diffuses the light, so it is soft and glare-free, spread evenly around the ring. It is an ambient light that suits dining and living rooms. Over a kitchen island, keep task lighting alongside it.

Lamping and installation

One lamp per shade: six, eight, ten or twelve by size. Use warm white at 2700K; the fixture gives around 1,200 to 3,200 lumens by size. It weighs about 8 kg (18 lb). The fixture is hardwired; have your electrician fix it to a joist or reinforced blocking.

Care

Switch off and let the lamps cool. Dust the linen shades with a soft brush or a vacuum on low with a brush attachment. Dust the ring with a soft dry cloth and do not use polish.
