The Travertine & Walnut Flush Mount is a compact ceiling light carved from a solid block of natural travertine, with a turned solid walnut canopy. It measures 12 cm (4.7″) across and 10 cm (3.9″) high. It suits a corridor, a powder room, or a small bar or niche.

The travertine

The body is carved from a single block of natural travertine. Its pitting and earthy striations are natural to the stone and vary from piece to piece, so no two are the same. When lit, the stone's inner cavity glows warm and its texture shows clearly.

The wood

The canopy is turned from solid walnut in a dark tone, which sits against the stone like a cap.

Why warm light matters

Stone takes on the colour of the light around it. At 2700K the travertine reads warm and earthy; cooler light makes it look grey and flat. On this piece, warm white is part of the design.

Sizing and placement

At 12 cm (4.7″) across, it is small enough to use in a series: run several down a corridor about 1.5 to 2 m (5 to 6.5 ft) apart, set one in a powder room, or set a pair over a bar. At 10 cm (3.9″) deep, it suits even low ceilings.

Mounting

The walnut canopy fixes directly to the ceiling, and the whole fixture sits within 10 cm (3.9″) of it.

The light

The light falls downward in a soft pool, with the stone glowing around it. It is an accent and corridor light; in a larger room, use it alongside other ambient light.

Lamping and installation

One E27 lamp, 3 to 5 W warm white LED at 2700K. The fixture weighs about 1.5 to 2.5 kg (3.3 to 5.5 lb) and is hardwired.

Care

Switch off and let the lamp cool. Dust the stone and the walnut with a soft dry cloth. Keep water, acidic and abrasive cleaners off the travertine, as they can etch the stone.

Made to order

Every piece is made to order. On volume orders, the wood species and stone finish can be changed. Dimming is available on request.
