This wall sconce is a cylinder turned from solid travertine on a wood backplate, 32 cm (12.6") high and 7 cm (2.8") across, throwing light up the wall and down it. The open pores of the stone catch the light at the edges.

The travertine

Quarried stone, selected without holes or surface marks: tone and veining differ from piece to piece, and no two light the same way.

Where it belongs

Its narrow profile suits a corridor, a stair wall, a bedside or a powder room, and a run of three or four at even spacing reads better than a single. Mount the centre about 150 to 160 cm (59 to 63") from the floor.

Light and installation

Integrated LED, warm white at 2700K, with no bulb to replace. It weighs about 2 to 3 kg (4 to 7 lb). Hardwired, 110 to 240V adapted to the destination.
