Frosted Glass Bowl Semi-Flush Mount | CLVBG021SM

The Frosted Glass Bowl Semi-Flush Mount is a frosted glass bowl with softly scalloped edges, hung on solid brass chains close to the ceiling. It comes in two sizes, both 26 cm (10.2″) high: Small, 41 cm (16.1″) wide, and Large, 53 cm (20.9″) wide. It suits a formal dining room, an entryway or a powder room with a 2.4 to 3 m (8 to 10 ft) ceiling.

The glass

The bowl is frosted glass, its rim shaped into shallow scallops. The frosting spreads the light evenly across the whole bowl and keeps glare low.

The frame

The bowl hangs on solid brass chains, with solid brass fittings to match.

Why warm light matters

Frosted glass takes the colour of the lamp inside it. At 2700K the bowl glows a soft, even cream; cooler light turns it blue-white and makes the brass look pale. On this piece, warm white is part of the design.

Sizing and placement

The Small, at 41 cm (16.1″), suits a powder room, hallway, bedroom or small entry of up to about 3 × 3 m (10 × 10 ft). The Large, at 53 cm (20.9″), suits a dining room, bedroom or entry of around 3.5 × 4 m (12 × 13 ft), or a table of about 100 to 140 cm (39 to 55″). Both suit ceilings of 2.4 to 3 m (8 to 10 ft).

Mounting

The bowl hangs on short brass chains, 26 cm (10.2″) from the ceiling overall, which keeps headroom under 2.4 to 3 m (8 to 10 ft) ceilings.

The light

The lamp sits inside the frosted bowl, so the light spreads softly down and out into the room with little glare. It is a gentle ambient light; over a desk or vanity, add task lighting.

Lamping and installation

One E27 lamp. Warm white LED at 2700K. Bulbs are not included. The fixture weighs about 3 to 5 kg (7 to 11 lb) and is hardwired.

Care

Switch off and let the lamp cool first. Dust with a soft dry cloth. For a deeper clean, wipe the glass with a damp microfibre cloth and a little mild glass cleaner applied to the cloth, never sprayed onto the fixture. Wipe the brass with a soft dry cloth only, with no metal polish or abrasive cleaners.

Made to order

Every piece is made to order. The chain length can be set to your ceiling, and dimming is available on request.
