Cascading Crystal Flush Mount | CLPOP013

The Cascading Crystal Flush Mount is a close-to-ceiling chandelier of cut crystal rods hanging from tiered brass discs. It measures 66 cm (26″) across and 36 cm (14.2″) high. It is made for ceilings under about 2.7 m (9 ft), and suits a bedroom, a hallway or an entryway where you want the sparkle of a chandelier without a long drop.

The crystal

The rods are precision-cut K9 crystal. They hang in tiers from the brass discs, and each cut face bends and splits the light, so the fixture throws small points of sparkle onto the ceiling and walls around it.

The frame

The rods hang from stacked brass discs that step down in tiers from the ceiling. The brass is warm gold and carries the weight of the crystal.

Why warm light matters

Clear crystal takes on the colour of the lamps behind it. At 2700K the rods sparkle warm gold against the brass; cooler light makes them look icy and harsh. On this piece, warm white is part of the design.

Sizing and placement

At 66 cm (26″) wide, it suits a bedroom or living room of about 4 × 4.5 m (13 × 15 ft) and up, a wide entrance hall, or a hospitality entry. At 36 cm (14.2″) high it leaves clear headroom under a ceiling of 2.4 to 2.7 m (8 to 9 ft). Over a bed or in the middle of a room, it reads as a chandelier while staying out of the way.

Mounting

The fixture mounts close to the ceiling as a flush or semi-flush fitting, with no rod or chain.

The light

The lamps sit within the tiers of crystal, so the light is broken up by the rods into a bright, sparkling ambient light rather than a direct downlight. In a kitchen or at a desk, add task lighting alongside it.

Lamping and installation

Warm white LED at 2700K. Bulbs are not included. The fixture weighs about 10 to 14 kg (22 to 31 lb). It is hardwired; have your electrician fix it to a joist or reinforced blocking.

Care

Switch off and let the lamps cool. Dust the rods with a soft dry cloth or a feather duster, supporting each rod with your other hand. For a deeper clean, wipe the crystal with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with a little glass cleaner applied to the cloth, never sprayed onto the fixture. Wipe the brass with a soft dry cloth, with no polish.
