Arnaud Brass Sputnik Flush Mount | CLVGY085

The Arnaud Brass Sputnik is a ten-light sputnik flush mount of solid brass arms radiating from a compact central hub, in a warm brushed finish. It measures 61 cm (24″) across and 14 cm (5.5″) high. It suits a dining room, a hallway or an entry ceiling, and works well in rooms with lower ceilings.

The brass

Arms and hub are solid brass with a brushed finish, which gives the metal a soft, even sheen. The ten arms spread out from the hub in the mid-century sputnik form, kept close to the ceiling.

Why warm light matters

Brass takes on the colour of the light around it. At 2700K the brushed arms read warm gold; cooler light turns them flat and greenish. On this piece, warm white is part of the design.

Sizing and placement

At 61 cm (24″) across, it suits a dining table of about 120 to 160 cm (47 to 63″), a bedroom, or a room of around 3.5 × 4 m (12 × 13 ft). In a hallway or entry, center it in the space. At only 14 cm (5.5″) deep, it works under ceilings from about 2.3 m (7.5 ft).

Mounting

The hub fixes directly to the ceiling, and the whole fixture sits within 14 cm (5.5″) of it.

The light

The ten lamps spread across the fixture and light the room in every direction, the ceiling as well as the floor. It gives a bright, general light. Over a kitchen island or a desk, keep task lighting alongside it.

Lamping and installation

Ten E27 lamps. Warm white LED at 2700K. Bulbs are not included. The fixture weighs about 4 to 6 kg (9 to 13 lb) and is hardwired.

Care

Switch off and let the lamps cool. Dust with a soft dry cloth, following the direction of the brushing. Do not use metal polish or abrasive cleaners: they change the finish and can mark the brass.

Made to order
